Story of the film:Mahabharata legend in which princess savitri marries satyavan despite a curse that foretells his death within a year. She manages to get Yama (gaggiah), the god of death, to restore her husband to life.
On the film:with this film the Calcutta based studio tried to compete with the entry of Bombay studios into the nascent Telugu cinema, inaugurated by HM Reddy?s Bhaktha Prahalada (1931) using actors from the surabhi theatres troupe. Pullaiah version introduces the star Gaggiah.
About sri vemuri gaggiah: Vemuri gaggiah born on 15th august 1895 at vemuru in guntur dist. His father was a village karunam. But he died very young. So sri gaggiah was brought up by his brother, who was a govt. employee. He was married to ramalaxmi in 1913. he joined with sri dhenuvakonda chennia for learning the music. He joined with the surabhi drama company and even gave a performances in Rangoon. He is one of the first person to perform in Rangoon. He was awarded with golden crown in Rangoon.
After coming from Rangoon he joined with tenali drama company which was run by sri malladi gopnatha sastry which was number one at that time. Then he joined with mylavaram drama company. This company was established in 1913 and they constructed a theatre at 1917 in vijayawada. Around 1924 the company was closed. But gaggaih was very famous and got lot of name. When talkies started c.pulliah invited sri gaggiah to the film savitri. People use to tremble hearing sri gaggiah?s voice. They use to publish giggaiah?s name on posters to get maximum patrons.

Over all he acted only 14 movies but all the films brought him a lot of name. Even though he got lot of name he didn't left vemuru, he stayed at vemuru and used to go to madras for the roles. He didn't got addicted to the name and fame, also to the bad habits and lived a simple life in the village. He still played the roles in drama until his death. He died peacefully on 30-12-1955. May his soul rest in peace.

The first Telugu talkie in Telugu. The later well-known producer and director LV Prasad played two small roles.
The First Telugu talkie was Bhakta Prahalada made in 1931 by Sri H.M. Reddy.
H.M.Reddy's full name is Hanumantappa Muniyappa Reddy. He did his schooling in Bangalore .He worked as a Police inspector before he became a light boy for Ardesh M.Irani in Imperial Studious. Slowly he started making silent movies. His first film was Rajkumar with Prudhviraj kapoor.
Ardesh M.Irani directed the first Indian Talkie ' ALAM ARA'. Using the same sets H.M.Reddy made the first Tamil talkie 'Kalidas'. In this movie both Tamil and Telugu drama artists played the roles. The dialogues in this movie were a mix of both Telugu and Tamil. Like all Tamil actors spoke in Tamil and all Telugu Actors in Telugu. But all the songs were in Telugu. Akkineni Laxmi vara prasad (LV Prasad) acted in all the first talkies like 'ALAM ARA', 'Kalidas' and 'Bhakta Prahalada�.
For a silent movie you need to have a good face along with good expressions. That used to be sufficient. But for talkie movies you need to have good voice too. At that time there is no concept of playback system. All the actors had to sing their own songs as well as say their own dialogues. The first Tamil movie Kalidas was completed in 9000 feet film. At that time all the movies are based on top dramas only. So to attract audience they use to have minimum of 15 to 20 songs in a movie.
Bhakta Prahalada was the first talkie made in Telugu by Sri H.M.Reddy. In this film Munepalle Subramanyam acted as Hiranya Kashyapa, Surabhi Kamalabai as Leelavathi. This was made under Srikrishna films banner with a budget of 20,000 rupees. This is based on famous surabhi drama, so all most all surabhi actors acted in it. The heroine Kamalabai was born on the stage (not while making this film, but her mother was doing a play and she delivered her on the stage).
This film became a big hit. Famous directors like Raja Sando, C.Pullaiah, H.V.Babu, Chitapu Narasimha Rao made so afterwards all most all-popular dramas into films. They made pictures in Tamil/Telugu.
After so many years AVM made this film in color with S.V.R, Anjali and Baby Rojaramani (now Rojaramani is married Chakrapani and mother of Tarun who is also acted in some movies as a child artist like Mansu Mamata, Teja and Anjali and as a hero films like nuvve kavali, nuvvu leka nenu lenu etc..).

Railway Gate (2007)
Agatha Christie వ్రాసిన Murder on the Orient Express (1974)ని ఎంత చెత్తలాగా తీయొచ్చో మనం ఈ సిత్రం చూసి తెలుసుకోవచ్చు. ఆకశ్ (పృథ్వీ) అమెరికా నుంచి వచ్చి వ్యాపార వ్యవహారాలు చక్కపెట్టుకుని ఆస్తి అమ్మేసి మళ్ళీ అమెరికా పోవాలనుకుంటాడు. అతనికి ఉన్న అమ్మాయిల పిచ్చి వల్ల దారుణంగా railway gate దగ్గర హత్య చేయబడతాడు. దాన్ని పరిశోదించడానికి ఇంకో పృథ్వీ వచ్చి ఎలా murder mysteryని ఛేదించదు అన్నదే క్లుప్తంగా కథ. మొదటి సగం సిత్రం పృథ్వీ అమ్మాయిల పిచ్చి, హత్యతో సరిపోగా రెండో సగం రెండో పృథ్వీ పరిశోధన పేరుతో కాలక్షేపం చెయ్యాలని చూసారు. సినిమాకి సంబంధం లేకుండా మరో పక్కన ఆలీ-కొండవలస comedy track, సుమన్ శెట్టి dance ఏంటో ఆ దర్శకమహానుభావుడికే తెలియాలి. ఒక మంచి thrillerని ఎలా ఖూనీ చేయవచ్చో మనవాళ్ళ దగ్గర నేర్చుకోవచ్చు!

Alfred Hitchcock తీసిన Rear Window (1954) గుర్తుందా? దాన్ని ఈ కాలానికి అనుగుణంగా తీసిందే ఈ సినిమా. మాతృకకు మంచి comedy కూడా కలిపి తీసారు. కథ ఒకటే అయినప్పటికీ కథనం కొత్తగా ఉండి మంచి ఉత్కంఠతతో సాగి చినెమ చూడబుద్ధేస్తుంది. ఖాళీగా ఉన్నప్పుడు మెదడుకి పని చెప్పకుండా ఒకసారి చూడొచ్చు.

Italianetz (2005) English title The Italian, Vanya Solntsev (Kolya Spiridonov) అనే రష్యన్ కుర్రాడు ఒక ఆనాధ అశ్రమం లొ ఉంటాడు. ఆతన్ని పెంచుకొడానికి ఒక italian కుటుంబం ముందుకు వస్తుంది. కాని vanya కి తన తల్ల్లిని వెదికి పట్టుకోవాలని అనుకుంటాడు. తల్లి చిరునామ Warden వద్ద ఉన్న లాకర్ లొ ఉంటాయి. అది ఎదొ తెలుసుకొవాల్లన్న అతనికి చదువు రాదు. తనకన్న పెద్ద వారిని సహయం అడగాలనుకుంటె ఆ అమ్మాయి డబ్బు అడుగుతుంది. తరువాత అతని మీద జాలి పడి చదువు చెపుతుంది. అతికస్టం మీద తల్లి చిరునామ ఉన్న సంపాదించి తనని వెతుకుతున్న శరణాలయం వాల్ల బారినుంచి తప్పుకుని తల్లిని చెరుకున్నడ లేదా అన్నది చూడవలిసిందే. చిత్రం లొ ఎక్కడ అబ్బాయి ఎడుపులు కాని ఎక్కువ cinematic గా కని కనపడదు. rabbit proof fence తరవాత అంత మంచి చిత్రం అని నిస్సందెహం గా చెప్పుకొవచ్చు. తప్పక చూడవల్సినది గా చెప్పుకొవచ్చు

Perfect Stranger (2007)
Haley Berry ఒక journalist. ఆరునెలలు కష్టపడ్డ scoop కాస్తా senator కావడం వల్ల paperలోకి రాదు. ఈలోపల చిన్ననాటి స్నేహితురాలు హత్య చెయబడుతుంది. కారణం Bruce Willis అని అనుమానం. స్నేహితుడైన తోటి పాత్రికేయుడితో కలిసి Bruce Willis చుట్టూ వల పన్ని శిక్ష పడేలా చేస్తుంది Haley Berry. కానీ Bruce Willis అసలు హంతకుడా కాదా అని regularగా English చిత్రాలు చూసే వాళ్ళకి తెలిసిపోతుంది. ఎందుకు, ఎవరు, ఏంటి? అని తెలుసుకోవాలంటే సినిమా చూడండి ...ఫరవాలేదు, వేరే పనేమీ లేనప్పుడు చూడొచ్చు... తీయగలిగితే తెలుగులో కూడా తీయొచ్చు సరైన screenplay వ్రాసుకుంటే...

Diana Lane ఒక అబ్బాయి ఆకర్షణలో పడి Richard Gereకి తెలియకుండా ఆ అబ్బాయితో సంబంధం పెట్టుకుంటుంది. తరువాత తరువాత పశ్చత్తాపపడి వాడిని వదిలించుకోవాలని చూస్తుంది. ఇంతలో ఆ అబ్బాయినెవరో హత్య చేస్తారు! ఆ హత్య Richard Gere వేసిన పథకం అని తెలుస్తుంది! ఇక్కడే మలుపు... చచ్చినవాడు బ్రతికివస్తాడు! ...తర్వాత ఏం జరిగిందంటే... కొత్తగా విడుదలయిన మన Hindi సిత్రం "అగర్" చూడండి...
